evening,
i saw your name on wildsnow and thought i recognised it from somewhere. i follow the linkto your blog and indeed my hunch was correct. your a mountain biker. i’ve seen your stuff in singletrack. then her on your blog i see you’ve been hitting up la dole in the jura. i worked near there last summer. We rode up it from france and down in to switzerland on a lovely trail and i’m sure there were a couple of other good looking bits on the map i never got to do.
i’m on my second season of ski touring now and love it, almost as much as biking. The work out climbing up, kick turns, and then the lovely tight turns down a hopefully safe run.
hows your toruing going?

Hi Oli, Yes…this is me!
Touring is going great and loving it.
Would be very interested to know of any riding in Jura as have discovered NONE! Obviously a few months to go before that is on the cards though.
Cheers

riding is rather limited. there are some fantastic bits ‘n’ pieces spread around so its hard to make up a solid ride. But its very much roady country or full on race head XC (mountain roady as we call them).
have you been to metabief? i went with a friend a week after 2 world class days in les arc and was pleasantly suprised. well worth a day out for lift assisted riding!

best thing for me to do. when i get back home to the U.K i’ll send you my maps. I highlight good bits on them each season as i go. I say maps, i have about 3 or 4 (1:25 french equivilant of landranger) for the jura. the summer before i was working in the south of france, near Millau, and one map was enough simply due to high density of such high quality trails. i dream of guiding in that area as its undiscovered for riding and so very good.
yeah so if i send you the maps after this winter you can have a look. On a nice it is a beautiful area with much potential you just need to know how to link everything up.
whats your email address?
touring is not going to well here.
such poor snow, and we’ve had lots of wind recently so its slab county on almost all aspect faces. oh joy!
